The ADRE Exam for filling Group III positions in the state government took place on Sunday, and no incidents or disruptions were reported.

The Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) for Group III vacancies in the state government was conducted on Sunday under strict security measures. Internet services were suspended for three and a half hours statewide to ensure a smooth process, according to an official.

No untoward incidents were reported from any of the 2,305 centers across the state during the examination.

Following the conclusion of the exams, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his satisfaction, stating that the first ADRE exam had been conducted peacefully.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the officers and staff of the Assam government for successfully accomplishing this significant task without any issues,” Sarma shared on X (formerly Twitter).

He further reiterated his commitment to transparency in government recruitment, assuring the younger generation that fairness will continue to be a priority.

Candidates had started lining up at examination centers early in the morning, with the gates set to open at 10 a.m.

Internet services were suspended from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as a precautionary measure.

There was a significant presence of security forces outside the examination centers to ensure the process ran smoothly.

A total of 1,123,204 candidates were eligible to take the exam across 2,305 centers statewide.

Authorities had designated 429 centers as ‘sensitive’ due to their locations and previous issues with cheating and other malpractices.

The internet suspension aimed to prevent the misuse of various mobile applications, including Facebook, WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), Telegram, and YouTube, which have been used in the past for unfair practices, according to an official order.

Earlier, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his best wishes to all candidates participating in the ADRE Class III exam.

“Best wishes to all candidates appearing in the ADRE Class III exam. Give your best with full sincerity and integrity, and stay relaxed. Good luck,” Sarma posted on X (formerly Twitter).

To support the examination process, the Northeast Frontier Railways operated 12 special trains and extended the routes of four regular trains.

The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) announced that the written examination for Class III posts requiring a Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) would take place on September 15.

In light of past recruitment scandals, the state government implemented comprehensive measures to ensure a fair and transparent selection process for candidates.
