Google Cloud India MD: We’re Now Collaborating in Business Transformation for Companies

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) have become key drivers of business transformation. Google Cloud is playing a pivotal role in this revolution, with India emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets for its cloud offerings. Businesses across sectors, from agriculture to digital-native startups, are embracing Google Cloud’s AI-powered solutions to enhance efficiency and scale operations.

The recent introduction of the open-source Gemini Agent Framework and initiatives like ‘DPI in a box’ showcase Google’s commitment to advancing India’s digital infrastructure. With innovative features like voice-powered search and AI-driven services, Google Cloud is empowering businesses, farmers, and individuals to thrive in the digital economy.

India is emerging as one of the fastest-expanding markets for Google in the cloud services sector, according to a senior executive. The tech giant aims to support businesses in their digital transformation journeys through its cloud solutions.

Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President and Country Managing Director of Google Cloud India, shared that the company is witnessing a surge in the adoption of its services across various industries, including the public sector, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups, and digital-first companies.

Bedi noted, “India is one of the fastest-growing regions for Google in the cloud services domain. We’re collaborating with a wide range of customers across sectors whether it’s the public sector, SMEs, startups, or large enterprises. Over time, we’ve seen a steady increase in the use of Google Cloud services as more organizations leverage our offerings.”

Cloud technology has shifted from being one of many tools to becoming a central element in modern business operations.

“The early adopters are typically companies that are more agile, like digital-native businesses and startups,” explained Bedi. “To put things into perspective, 90% of Gen AI unicorns now utilize Google Cloud, and 60% of all Gen AI-funded companies are using it as well. These numbers have grown since last year, reflecting the rising adoption across the digital-native sector.”

Recently, Google Cloud unveiled plans to integrate the capabilities of Beckn-enabled open networks with Gemini, Google’s generative AI chatbot. This will be made accessible through an open-source Gemini Agent Framework, designed for Indian businesses and users.

This framework, driven by Google’s AI model Gemini, allows users to effortlessly search and discover listings ranging from electronics to seeds, as well as from job opportunities to educational courses. It also facilitates seamless transactions across major sectors such as agriculture and skill development.

Users will have access to this vast range of information through a single interface, utilizing voice commands on any network-compliant app in their preferred language. This means that farmers can now easily obtain valuable insights, from best agricultural practices to market connections and even access to formal credit, all in one convenient location.

“Glance will be the first app to provide this agent to its 235 million Android users across India, empowering the nation’s youth with the necessary skills to succeed in the digital economy,” Bedi added.

Earlier this month, Google announced a partnership with the EkStep Foundation to help export India’s transformative Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) model globally. The collaboration aims to develop a “DPI in a box” solution, a plug-and-play model based on open networks, digital identity, credentials, and other Digital Public Goods. This initiative is designed to assist other nations in building their own digital infrastructure.
